New York Knicks Are Interested In Jimmy Butler Trade

Although Jimmy Butler is regarded as a devoted member of the Miami Heat, his future with the team has been called

into question in recent weeks. As clubs throughout the league assess his availability, the New York Knicks are the

most recent team to show particular interest in the six-time All-Star.

Butler had boasted that if Miami and the Heat had faced off in the playoffs, the Heat would have eliminated the

Knicks. Ironically, according to Marc Berman, the Knicks are apparently keeping an eye on the possible Butler

Sweepstakes.

Butler, 34, left the 76ers to join the Heat in 2019. He has averaged 21.3 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 5.7 assists per game

on 49% shooting throughout his five seasons with the franchise.

Since 2020, he and co-star Bam Adebayo have led the Heat to two trips to the Finals.

Butler, a tenacious and fierce two-way player, has long been seen as the ideal fit for the team and is the symbol of

their dreaded “Heat Culture.” With two years remaining on his contract, the 13-year veteran will have a $52 million

player option for the 2025–2026 season.

However, following a dismal season, questions have been raised about Butler’s and the Heat’s future.

These misgivings grew during the season-ending interviews after Pat Riley publicly chastised him for saying he could

have won the Heat’s Eastern Conference series against the Celtics and Knicks.

The Knicks are arguably the franchise that makes the most sense for Butler at this point in his career,

despite the fact that numerous teams, including the Warriors and 76ers, will be vying for his services. With a 50-32

record, they were second in the East last season and made it to the second round before falling to the Indiana Pacers.

Due to injury and sheer fatigue, the Knicks collapsed in the East Semifinals; nevertheless, Butler’s consistency as a

two-way player may provide them with the advantage they require to eventually mount a comeback. Butler would

also get to work with Tom Thibodeau again, the coach he previously shared with the Bulls for the first seven years of

his career, when he joined the Knicks.
