Rangers should accept a prospective “£5 million” offer for Tom Lawrence and reinvest the proceeds in Philippe Clement’s team.

That is the opinion of former Gers and Scotland defender Alan Hutton, who spoke exclusively with Football Insider about the 30-year-old and admitted his fitness is “an issue” for Clement’s side.

Lawrence has just one year left on his contract at Ibrox and has been linked with Ipswich, Sheffield United, and top Turkish clubs.

According to Football Insider, Rangers are willing to offload Lawrence this summer and use the proceeds to invest in new signings.

In 32 appearances in all competitions in the 2023-24 season, the Wales international scored three goals and assisted three others.

With injuries limiting his participation throughout the season, he only appeared in 16 games as a starter.

Rangers told to sell Lawrence with ‘injuries an issue’

Hutton said he “likes” Lawrence as a player, but suggested that the funds from his transfer could be used to improve the squad at Ibrox.

He told Football Insider: “If they can get up to £5 million for him, I’ll take it.

“He just turned 30, and he has three goals last season.

“I admire him as a player and what he offers you. He excels in the number ten position and can even play wide if necessary.

“Clement has demonstrated that he can also play in midfield.

“But I just think the injuries are an issue, and I keep hearing things about Ipswich, Sheffield United, and others.

“If you can get that kind of money for him, the Rangers are willing to accept it.

“They have other players in those places, and they want to strengthen.

“It might be a case of getting him out to get others in – and £5million could be a good deal.”

In other news, Rangers are in “very advanced” talks with the biggest summer signing yet.
