Ipswich Town: Blues linked with Liverpool defender Nat Phillips
Nat Phillips, a defender for Liverpool, is being watched by Ipswich Town, the Daily Mail reports.
The 27-year-old, who spent the previous few years on loan at VfB Stuttgart, AFC Bournemouth,
Celtic, and Cardiff City, signed with the Reds from Bolton Wanderers back in 2016.
During a serious injury problem in the 2020–21 season, he was notably called into Jurgen Klopp’s
back line and went on to feature in 17 Premier League games and the Champions League. In May
2021, he netted the team’s first goal as they defeated Burnley 3-0.
According to the article, Town is among’several’ teams eager to sign him this summer, with German giants like Mainz and his previous club Cardiff fighting for his services.
His deal is scheduled to end in the summer of next year, and Liverpool is reportedly worth roughly
£8 million, according to the Daily Mail.

Ipswich is currently being linked to a number of centre backs. While it’s more difficult than ever
to confirm rumours, it’s likely a sign that the team is trying to bolster its defence.
As a right-footed player, Phillips played most of the previous season on the right side of Cardiff’s
defence with Dimitrios Goutas. Ben Johnson is reportedly close to joining the Blues, thus it appears
that there is a greater need for a left-sided defender like Jacob Greaves of Hull City.
The Athletic revealed this morning that Town is interested in Greaves and Panathinaikos striker
Fotis Ioannidis, although no deal has been made for either player.
While Phillips’s elite background will help him, Luke Woolfenden and Axel Tuanzebe will be fierce
