Brighton beat Leipzig to the signing of Yilmaz from Galatasaray for €18 million on a six-year contract this summer.

Brighton beat Leipzig to the signing of Yilmaz from Galatasaray for €18 million on a six-year contract this summer.

With RB Leipzig, Eintracht Frankfurt, and Lazio among their rivals,

Brighton could pay €15 million to get Galatasaray winger Baris Alper Yilmaz.

The 24-year-old Turkish international appears capable of moving up to play in a more competitive league based on his impressive performances at Galatasaray.

Yilmaz will have options this summer,

and CaughtOffside has learned from people who are closely aware of his circumstances that

Brighton is considering making an initial offer for the midfielder that would likely fall between €13 and €15 million.

According to CaughtOffside, Brighton has dispatched scouts to watch Yilmaz at Euro 2024,

and reports on the player have reportedly been expressly sought by the Seagulls’ new manager, Fabian Hurzeler.
Transfer of Yilmaz: Galatasaray reluctant to let go of Brighton target

Galatasaray is not eager to let go of Yilmaz, though, and it is anticipated that offers close to €15 million will fall short.

The Turkish behemoths might insist on anything closer to €25 million,

but it will be intriguing to see whether a deal can be reached after talks.

Yilmaz would undoubtedly find Brighton to be an alluring challenge given the excellent work they’ve done recently to develop players.

Hurzeler will undoubtedly hope he can accomplish something similar with a talent like Yilmaz because many of Brighton’s big players weren’t well-known when they first arrived,

but they thrived under former managers Graham Potter and Roberto de Zerbi.

For an up-and-coming talent like this,

playing in the Premier League will undoubtedly be alluring as well because it’s perhaps the greatest stage of them all and may help generate interest globally,

making you more of a household figure than you might be if you relocate to Germany or Italy.

Leipzig, however, has also recently made considerable strides in player development,

therefore at this point in Yilmaz‘s career,

Leipzig could be considered a solid alternative.
