Ivan Toney, a striker for Brentford,

is not likely to be acquired by Tottenham this summer as the team is considering younger alternatives.

The England midfielder has been linked to Spurs this summer,

and Thomas Frank, the manager of Brentford,

has acknowledged that the team may profit from the player.

Toney’s current deal with the Bees expires in one year.

He is not yet in the competition,

but he is now representing England in Germany at Euro 2024.

The striker, who did not see action in the Three Lions’ two group matches against Serbia and Denmark,

will be looking to get on the field on Tuesday night when they play Slovenia.

While he has been serving abroad, there has been a lot of discussion about his future.

Spurs have been strongly connected to a transaction that is rumored to be worth around £50 million.

Nevertheless, as football.london reports,

Tottenham‘s shortlist of strikers is made up of players who are in their mid-twenties or younger and are targets for the future as well as the present.

Since Toney is 28 years old and outside of those age range, a summer transfer for the Brentford player seems doubtful.

As an alternative, Jonathan David of Lille is highly considered after netting 26 goals in 47 games for the French team the previous campaign. Spurs and a number of other strikers are still being linked.

Prior to the match against Slovenia, Toney stated that he was focusing solely on the Euros and would not be worrying about his future.

“I wouldn’t be sitting here in front of you guys if I could predict the future,” he remarked.

“Whatever happens, happens, and my main goal is to play well and represent my nation well.

Transfer speculating is something I’ve experienced before.

There has been much discussion about my traveling here, there, and everywhere in the past in my profession, but I simply don’t let outside noise bother me.

“Now that I’m here with England, our primary goal is to do well for England and accept whatever comes to pass. It’s beyond my control.
