Sad News: Celtic confirm departure of four key players’ Adam Idah
Celtic have confirmed the imminent exit of four academy youngsters at the end of their professional contracts this month.
Full-backs Jake Vokins, 24, and Matt Carson, 19, as well as forward Luke Pearce, 19, are expected to depart, along with defender Dynel Simeu, 22.
Simeu, a native of Southampton, joined Saints from Chelsea with the intention of breaking into the starting lineup,
although he never played for the senior club.
An Achilles injury sustained last summer has marred his final season; the Cameroonian has not participated in any games this year.
Simeu has made over 50 appearances in the EFL while on loan,
and he was frequently included in former manager Ralph Hasenhuttl’s matchday teams.
Vokins, on the other hand, struggled on several loans after making five appearances for Saints since making his EFL Cup debut in 2019.
His most recent assignment was with Eastleigh, a local National League team managed by former Saint Kelvin Davis,
where he appeared in six games this season.
After rejoining the team, Pearce scored seven goals in 11 games at Premier League 2 level this season.
He will look for a permanent contract elsewhere after enjoying stints on loan in
the fifth division at Eastbourne, Torquay, Weston-Super-Mare, and Dover.
Carson, a young international from Northern Ireland, has played more than 60 games for the Saints at the under-18 or under-21 levels.
In the 2023–24 season, he briefly went on loan to Braintree Town.
Derby County and other teams have expressed interest in him in the past.
