A Liverpool player who spent the 2023–24 season on loan at Hull City is reportedly of interest to Southampton, AFC Bournemouth, and Ipswich Town. But is this simply agency talk, or is there real value to this deal?

According to the Yorkshire Post, Southampton is keeping an eye on Tyler Morton, a midfielder for Liverpool. Southampton will also be up against competition from a number of other Premier League teams.

The 22-year-old Morton played 30 games in the Championship while on loan at Blackburn Rovers in 2022–2023; he

also made 10 appearances off the bench during that season. In the most recent season, Morton went out on loan once

more, this time to Hull City, where he arrived with just four games remaining in the regular season.

Being a first-choice bench player, he amassed 35 starts, 4 substitute appearances, 3 goals, and 5 assists.

He is now back at his parent club, Liverpool, where his opportunities have been scarce thus far. He has made nine

appearances in the FA, League, and Champions League, playing the full 90 minutes in each of his two games there,

in addition to one Premier League start and one brief substitute appearance.

Russell Martin is searching for a central midfielder who can play both attacking and defensive roles, and he fits the

bill. Martin wants to replace Stuart Armstrong.

Due to this, RB Leipzig of the Bundesliga is reportedly showing interest in the player, and numerous Premier League

teams, including Saints, are also keeping an eye on the situation. The player is also reportedly considering his

options.

According to sources, the midfielder would love to stay at Anfield, but he is aware of the tough competition for

midfield spots and the limited opportunities.

Liverpool is reportedly seeking £20 million for his services if he moves permanently, even though his valuation is

only expected to be close to half of that amount.

Though his worth is rising with two years of Championship experience under his belt, I would venture a bet that it is not yet close to the £20 million level. Instead, this is probably simply his agency attempting to get him noticed and spark interest.

That seems like a good place to start, and both the player and his agent will want to gain some negotiating power when they speak with Liverpool.

I believe that both the player and Liverpool might want to go on another loan, maybe to a Premier League team where he can establish himself and come back to Anfield with a real shot at making the starting lineup.
