Everton are unlikely to sign Newcastle winger Yankuba Minteh.

The 19-year-old had a fantastic season with Arne Slot’s Feyenoord last year but has never played for Newcastle.

Lyon has made a serious bid to Newcastle for Minteh.

Both deals would have aided Newcastle and Everton in their respective concerns with profit and sustainability guidelines (PSR).

Iroegbunam becomes Everton’s first summer signing

On Saturday, Everton revealed their first signing of the summer transfer window: midfielder Tim Iroegbunam, who joins from Aston Villa on a three-year deal.

The 20-year-old, who reportedly cost £9 million, won the European U19 Championship with England in 2022 and has also represented the U20s.

Iroegbunam progressed through West Brom’s system, making his senior debut in May 2021 before joining Villa a month later.

He made his Villa debut in February 2022 and went on to make 12 Premier League games, two of which were starts.

“We are delighted to add Tim to our midfield options. “He is a young player who is still learning and developing, but he clearly possesses many of the qualities we seek in that area of the pitch,” Everton boss Sean Dyche stated.

“My coaching staff and I are looking forward to starting to work with him in pre-season.”

Villa are now in talks with Everton about signing 21-year-old winger Lewis Dobbin.

PSR explained: What limits clubs spending more?

To put it simply, when every Premier League team calculates their yearly accounts, they can have made a loss of no more than £105 million over the preceding three seasons.

Clubs can only lose £15 million of their own money over three years. So that’s no more than £15 million more in outgoings like as transfer fees, player wages, and, in many cases, paying off past managers when compared to income from TV payments, season tickets, player sales, and so on.

The remaining £90 million of the £105 million must be guaranteed by their owners purchasing shares, a process known as’secure funding’, which essentially implies bankrolling the club.

When does the summer transfer window open and close?

The Premier League and Scottish Premiership’s 2024 summer transfer market is now officially open.

The window will close on August 30 at 11 p.m. UK time in England and 11:30 p.m. in Scotland.

The Premier League and Scottish Premiership moved Deadline Day forward to coincide with the other major leagues in Europe. The closing dates were determined after discussions with the leagues of England, Germany, Italy, Spain, and France.
