Real Sociedad midfielder Brais Mendez is attracting interest from clubs in the summer transfer window.

Villa is the most recent team rumored to be involved in a race

that also includes Man Utd and several European powerhouses.

Unai Emery is considering a summer move for his fellow Spaniard,

who can play as a wide playmaker or as a number ten.

Mendez has over 200 La Liga career appearances under his belt and four senior caps for Spain.

Villa has reportedly enquired about Mendez’s availability from Sociedad,

and the player’s representatives have also been approached to determine Mendez’s degree of interest;

Man Utd, AS Roma, and Juventus are said to have already followed suit, according to Express Sport.

Although Sociedad is keen to keep Mendez on board, there is talk that a sizable offer would be too good to pass up.

After arriving at Reale Arena in July 2022, the 27-year-old is already 24 months into a six-year contract that expires in June 2028.

Mendez spent six years at Celta Vigo to start his career.

In 91 games for Sociedad so far, he has scored 19 goals and provided 17 assists.

According to Transfermarkt, the Mos native is currently valued at almost €40 million (£33.8 million),

having more than recouped the €14 million (£11.8 million) he originally cost.

Despite their continued challenges with the Premier League’s profit and sustainability standards,

the Villans are managing their outbound transfer business fairly well,

earning a healthy sum from sales. Omari Kellyman is leaving for Chelsea for a fee of £19 million,

while Tim Iroegbunam has signed a £9 million contract with Everton.

Douglas Luiz is getting close to joining Juventus for £22 million in an even larger trade.

Samuel Iling Junior and Enzo Barrenechea are expected to go in the opposite direction in order to complete the valuation of the Brazil international.
