As they prepare for the top division, Southampton is apparently trying to sign a Premier League star who hasn’t signed a contract extension with his present team this summer.

With Adam Lallana’s arrival, the Saints have already begun their summer operations. The former Liverpool player has finally made his way back to St Mary’s ten years after choosing to play for Anfield instead of his boyhood team. Arriving back near the end of his career, he will be hoping that Southampton benefits from his veteran-like expertise as soon as pre-season begins and that he guides Russell Martin’s team to Premier League safety the first time around.

After signing papers, Lallana gave an interview to the team’s official website, saying: “When I started talking to Russell and realized there was a little bit of interest, it was something I knew straightaway felt right in my head and in my heart that it was something I needed to pursue, and it worked out in the end.

It makes me very glad to be back at the beginning. Even though it sounds a little bit like a fairy tale, I honestly believe I still have a lot to offer this football team, and I still have work to do.
