Another well-known defender is getting closer to joining Atletico Madrid.

Under Diego Simeone, Atletico Madrid suffered one of their worst defensive seasons in 2023–24, but they will undoubtedly address it this summer. Not only are they almost certain to sign Real Sociedad’s Robin Le Normand, but another transfer is almost finalized.

Marca reports that David Hancko is Atleti’s #1 aim. When his participation in Euro 2024 draws to an end, they hope to sign the Slovakian defender. In the interim, they are apparently nearing an agreement with Feyenoord.

After Slovakia leaves Euro 2024, the plan is for Atleti to move forward with negotiations with the Eredivisie side. Diego Simeone would like it if it occurred the next week because it would enable the player to be available for the start of the preseason.

Hancko did, however, sustain an injury during Slovakia’s most recent loss to Ukraine, raising questions about his readiness for the match against Romania the following week. It would also help his Atletico Madrid signing if he is unable to play any more in Germany.
