Sunderland look set to appoint Regis Le Bris as their new manager

After going four months without a permanent manager, Sunderland is apparently very close to hiring Regis Le Bris,

the manager of Lorient.

After leading the French team for two years, Le Bris is expected to depart Lorient after their relegation from Ligue 1

last season.

On Friday, Fabrizio Romano disclosed that Le Bris and the Black Cats had reached an agreement for Michael Beale’s

replacement, with the intention of making an announcement over the weekend.

With Le Bris’ arrival at the Stadium of Light, the club’s protracted and difficult hunt for a new manager will come to an end.

Furthermore, it appears that Le Bris has already scheduled his first backroom meeting at Sunderland.

Ingo Goetze will be hired by Regis Le Bris at Sunderland

Le Bris is expected to take Lorient no. 2 Igno Goetze to Sunderland this summer, according to reports.

oetze, 45, began his career coaching young football players in Germany before focusing on sports psychology.

Before moving to Lorient as Le Bris’ assistant manager in 2022, the German had experience working in the junior

divisions at Werder Bremen, Stuttgart, and Bayer Leverkusen.

Why Regis Le Bris’ selection as Sunderland’s future manager could depend heavily on Igno Goetze

Le Bris will need someone he can rely on to support him because he is a new manager taking on a challenging task in

a foreign nation.

Despite their brief collaboration, it is evident that he holds a special place for Goetze,

as evidenced by his desire to take him to Wearside.

Additionally, Goetze’s experience as a sports psychologist might bring fresh perspective to Sunderland’s coaching

staff, particularly in light of the team’s youthful roster and the pressures they face right now.

Something that Beale lacked at Sunderland was a reliable ally. Sporting director Kristjaan Speakman might see that

as one of the former Sunderland manager’s many flaws, thus Le Bris’ decision to bring in his own personnel can only

work in his favor.
