OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED: Brendan Rodgers Parkhead Summer Exit

Celtic have “very reluctantly” agreed to let Rodgers travel to Leicester to discuss taking control at the

King Power stadium in the wake of Claude Puel’s dismissal.

He is expected to be confirmed as the Foxes’ new boss later this week – with his official unveiling pencilled in

for Thursday – ending a trophy-laden 32-month stay in Scotland.

It remains to be seen what impact Rodgers’ departure has on the Celtic playing squad,

but the Gunners hierarchy will hope it could help them fill a void at left-back.

One of the first things that Rodgers did when he arrived at Parkhead in 2016 was convince Kieran Tierney to

stay in Glasgow amid a £10million bid from Arsenal .

And now that the Northern Irishman has decided to leave the club,

Arsenal will hope they can prise the Scotland full back away as well.

However, if the Gunners do return with another bid for Tierney they will have to increase their

offer significantly – with the defender now rated at around £30m.

Left-back remains a concern for the club as Nacho Monreal turned 33 on Tuesday and doubts about

Sead Kolasinac’s ability to play in a back four persist.

Tierney, 21, would seem an attractive option, therefore.

The Celtic full back has previously spoken about how Rodgers convinced him to stay in 2016.

“The manager came in and I had been told already there was a big bid there,” he said.

“The manager said he wanted me to stay and sign a deal.

“As soon as I trained under him, there was no convincing needed. I was going to stay at Celtic.

It’s always flattering to hear other clubs are interested but I had no doubt in my mind I wanted to stay.

“After speaking to Brendan I knew something special was happening.”
