Atletico Madrid is close to acquiring Jan Oblak’s replacement

Atletico Madrid is targeting players like Mikel Merino, David Hancko, and Robin Le Normand as potential additions during the summer transfer window.

Their list of more modest arrivals includes a new backup goalkeeper to replace Jan Oblak.

Horatiu Moldovan, who only joined Atleti in January, is currently the team’s number two, but in recent weeks, he has expressed a wish to depart.

The goalkeeper from Romania desires to play on a regular basis, like he did while at Rapid Bucharest. Club management will not obstruct him if they receive a reasonable offer.

According to Ruben Uria (via ED), Atleti has already determined that Ilya Pomazun will most likely replace Moldovan.

The present ‘keeper for CSKA Moscow is well-liked by the organization, and since he does not start for the Russian heavyweights, he might be available for a reasonable price.

Although it’s not the most glamorous deal Atletico Madrid will make this summer, Pomazun’s acquisition will be crucial if Moldovan departs.

Whether he is the preferred option to be Oblak’s number two is still up in the air.
