Rafael Nadal is bidding farewell to his brilliant career at some of his favorite events. The Spaniard hopes to leave his final Olympic Games appearance in history, but former World No. 1 Andy Roddick thinks that’s easier said than done.

Nadal has spent the last 18 months battling injuries. The 22-time Grand Slam winner made a comeback to the ATP Tour in January, but she had to take some time off to recover from another illness.

Nadal participated in Roland Garros after missing a number of tournaments, where he was defeated in the first round by Alexander Zverev.

Nadal has resumed training following his heartbreaking defeat at the French Open, although he has not yet participated in any competitions.

The 38-year-old, nevertheless, has his sights set on the 2016 Olympic Games in Paris, which are scheduled to take place on Roland Garros’ sacred clay courts.

It has been revealed that Rafael Nadal is one of the Spanish athletes competing in the summer Olympics. Prior to winning the gold medal in the doubles competition at the 2016 Rio Olympics, the former world number one placed first in the singles competition in Beijing in 2008.

Nadal was given a wild card into the Bastad Open prior to the Olympics, where he intends to warm up before traveling to Paris.

During an interview on The Tennis Channel, Roddick discussed Rafael Nadal’s remaining schedule and emphasized how tough it is to take a break before an Olympic competition.

Roddick stated, “I’m sure the tournament organizers are super disappointed, and they definitely had Rafa playing Bastad on their bingo card when he was hurt, like in December of last year.”
