OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED: Sunderland announce the signing of Simon Moore as newest Goal keeper in replacement of Alex Bass
The custodian joins us as our first summer signing, moving to the Stadium of Light after three years with Coventry City,
on a two-year deal with a one-year club option.
Moore has played in the Premier League and Brading Town since 2007,
thus he has a lot of experience under his belt. He has made 288 senior appearances.
After joining Brentford in 2009 as Wojciech Szczęsny’s backup,
the 22-year-old goalie went on to become the team’s first choice in 2012.
One season later, Moore finalised his transfer to Cardiff City.
During his tenure with the Bluebirds, which ended in 2016 when he joined Sheffield United, he also went on loan to Bristol City.
He appeared 45 times as

Moore expressed his happiness at being in Wearside after relocating there,
saying: “I jumped at the chance when I heard Sunderland were interested.” Over the years, I’ve been a part of some really successful dressing rooms,
and I hope to bring that to Sunderland. I’m excited to join the group, get to know the other guys, and steer the Club in the proper path.
Kristjaan Speakman, the Sporting Director, continued, “We are truly happy to welcome Simon to our Club.
We believed that finding and hiring a goalie this summer who can consistently push
Anthony Patterson and who brings other attributes to the training and game conditions was essential.
