A Scottish Championship club is close to signing Arron Lyall, a former Rangers academy player.

According to the Daily Record, Morton is set to sign the ex-Gers kid.

Manager Dougie Imrie wants to add the winger to his attacking options for the 2024/25 season.

Before leaving Rangers, the 20-year-old was on loan at Airdrieonians in the same tier last season.

He will join Owen Moffat, Jordan Davies, Lemar Reynolds, and Cammy Ballantyne in the Cappielow squad this summer.

Meanwhile, a top Rangers official lost their job due to Ibrox development delays, which will require the team to play home games at a different stadium at the start of next season.

On Thursday, the club stated that due to a delay in material supply from Asia, work on the Copland Stand will not be completed in time for the next season.

As a result, the club will now look for an alternative location to host home games until the work is completed, which may be in September.

Contingency preparations have been worked on in recent weeks, but no finalised plans have been established, nor has a venue agreement been reached.

Rangers will be obliged to pay a fee for an alternative venue in this nightmarish scenario.

And the incident has resulted in one top figure at the club losing their job due to the circumstance.

A club statement confirmed: “Rangers has recently been advised of a delay in a materials shipment from Asia, which is likely to have an impact on the completion schedule for the Copland Stand works.”

“Unfortunately, it is expected that matches at Ibrox will be impacted at the start of the 2024/25 competitive season. The club has consulted with the SPFL and UEFA about contingency plans.”
