Breaking News: Xabi Alonso Beats Liverpool to Top Transfer Target

Liverpool’s pursuit of defensive reinforcements has encountered a major roadblock as

Xabi Alonso’s Bayer Leverkusen is working quickly to acquire Stuttgart center-back Waldemar Anton.

This is a double-edged blow for the Reds, who now risk losing a valuable transfer target

to his present team in addition to missing out on Alonso as a possible successor to Jurgen Klopp.

According to TEAMtalk, Liverpool made an inquiry about the 27-year-old Anton earlier this month.

Anton has a €22.5 million (£19 million) release clause.
