Stoke City and Coventry City linked with transfer swoops as ex-Leeds United man in ‘formal’ talks

Marko Stamenic, a New Zealand international, is apparently very close to joining Coventry City from FK Crvena zvezda (Red Star Belgrade). The 22-year-old is reportedly worth around £4 million, and Mark Robins’ team has had their eye on him for some time. Last season, Stamenic made 33 appearances for the Serbian team. Coventry, who have been linked to Preston captain Alan Browne, who is out of contract, would reinforce their midfield with the completion of the transaction.

Timothy Fayulu, the goalkeeper for FC Sion, is rumored to be linked to the Potters. Viktor Johansson, who was signed by Steven Schumacher from Rotherham United, is another addition to his goalkeeping staff. Although Frank Fielding and Jack Bonham are still with Stoke, the 24-year-old is reportedly in “advanced contact” with the team, according to Swiss news source Corner.

Following his season-long loan at Hillsborough, Ian Poveda is a free agent and is currently in “formal discussions” with Sheffield Wednesday. Our colleagues at the Sheffield Star say as much. Poveda, 24, was released by Leeds United this summer, and the Owls are trying to get him back. The Colombian international has also been connected to unidentified Ligue 1 clubs, Cardiff, West Brom, and Luton.

After being relegated, Sheffield United is reportedly eager to sign Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, according to sources from Turkey. The former Arsenal player joined the Black Eagles last summer, and he still has two years left on his Besiktas contract. The 30-year-old made 30 appearances and scored four goals in his debut season there. It’s reported that Southampton, his former team, and the Blades are both interested.

This summer, Everton was reported to have shown interest in Jacob Greaves; however, Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town are now being connected. According to The Telegraph, Greaves is a “top target” for the Tractor Boys, who, following their promotion to the top flight, are seeking to bolster their defensive unit. Greaves, 23, has a contract with Hull City that runs until 2026.
