After losing out on Patrick Pentz, Celtic had to refocus their efforts on finding a new first-choice goalkeeper,

sources informed Football Insider.

Pentz, 27, had a great loan stint with the Copenhagen-based team before signing a

permanent contract with Danish champions Brondby last week.
The goalkeeper, who is leading Austria at the European Championships in Germany,

is reportedly close to signing a contract with Celtic, according to information obtained by

Football Insider last month (19 May).

However, he has now decided to make his loan at Brondby permanent,

and in a surprising development, the Hoops will now have to hunt elsewhere for a replacement for Joe Hart,

who announced his retirement at the end of the 2023–24 season.

Martin Dubravka is one target; on Monday, June 17, Football Insider disclosed that

Celtic are preparing an attempt to recruit the goalkeeper from Newcastle United this summer.

In recent days, Dubravka has hinted that he would go to Parkhead, saying he would “consider”

moving to Scotland if a “concrete” offer was made.

Similar to Pentz, the Slovakian international is his nation’s first-choice goalkeeper at the 2024 European Championship.

But it’s thought Celtic won’t be able to approve a transfer for the 35-year-old until Newcastle accepts a

sensible offer and his salary demands align with Parkhead’s structure.
In 49 appearances in all competitions, Hart gave up 50 goals while maintaining 18

clean sheets in his final season with the Glasgow giants.

At Parkhead, Celtic also have Scott Bain and Benjamin Siegrist on their roster,

but neither player is expected to advance to the position as first choice goalie.

Another update: the striker is “very keen” to finish his move to Celtic.
