Graham Potter and Enzo Maresca have reached an agreement for Potter to become Leicester’s new manager.

Potter is moving closer to joining the East Midlands club after having positive conversations with them.

Potter hasn’t had a job since Chelsea let him go in April 2023.

Leicester, after allowing Maresca to sign with Chelsea as Mauricio Pochettino’s replacement,

who qualified for the Premier League straight after winning the Championship the previous season, currently have a spot open.

Potter is ready to go back into management and is thought to be the finest choice.

The 49-year-old left Chelsea and has turned down several offers. Potter, who has been targeted by Ajax this season,

has been waiting for the right moment.

Due to their financial issues and the potential for point deductions for violating the Premier League’s profit and sustainability standards,

moving to Leicester carries some degree of risk.

Before the new season starts, Leicester might need to let go of players, and it’s doubtful if they’ll have a substantial transfer budget.

Carlos Corberán of West Brom and Steve Cooper have also been taken into consideration.

Still, they have been exerting a great deal of effort to convince Potter,

who has been looking for a position of employment similar to the one he had in Brighton.

It’s well known that he thinks the Leicester administration will support him.

Potter, who relocated to Brighton in 2019, gave a commendable performance.

Following his ninth-place finish in the Premier League in 2022,

he convinced Chelsea’s new owners to name him manager following Thomas Tuchel’s dismissal later that year.

However, Potter struggled to adapt to life at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea were in turmoil following their takeover by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital,

who had lost faith in Potter less than seven months after he was appointed.

Potter has guided Chelsea to the Champions League final eight.

He has been suggested as Gareth Southgate’s potential replacement should he depart the team after Euro 2024.
