The legendary German defender Mats Hummels has decided to continue his career in Italy, reports journalist Nicola Schira.

The former Borussia Dortmund player has signed a one-year contract with Italian club Roma. The agreement extends until the summer of 2025.

It was recently reported that the 35-year-old center-back was close to signing a contract with Mallorca. This unexpected choice was due to Hummels’ fondness for the island and his desire to try his hand in La Liga.

Roma finished last season in sixth place and will compete in the UEFA Europa League next season.

After the season ended, Hummels left Borussia Dortmund as a free agent. “The Bees” announced on their official resources that the 35-year-old centre-back would be leaving the team after 13 years at Signal Iduna Park, but the final stretch of one of the most important players in the club’s history came between 2019 and 2024.
