Celtic serious contenders to sign “dangerous” £25m forward ahead of Ipswich

In the race to recruit a “dangerous” forward who is also coveted by Ipswich Town, Celtic are viewed as fierce rivals.

Speculation about a Celtic transfer

Before Brendan Rodgers‘ second season back in charge, the Hoops have not made a summer acquisition.

However, when the January transfer window closed, the Northern Irishman acknowledged the team might appear

bold in their acquisitions.

“I would agree with those who believe we might potentially be a little more daring in terms of bringing in players of a higher caliber.

However, it is my responsibility to try to remedy it while I am still here.

Looking at this approach, you need to exercise caution because it has proven effective in certain situations.

Since it’s a crucial component of the current game, I intend to strike a balance by allowing us to continue doing that

during my tenure here. However, we also aspire to have the guts to throw on the towel and accept a ready-made

player.

Finding a replacement for Joe Hart, who retired at the end of the previous season, is currently the top priority on the

transfer agenda. Many goalkeepers have been linked, including Tom Glover of Middlesbrough, Caoimhin Kelleher of

Liverpool, Ugurcan Cakir of Trabzonspor, Anthony Patterson of Sunderland, Michael Zetterer of Werder Bremen,

and most recently Martin Dubravka of Newcastle United and Croatian international Dominik Livakovic.

But Celtic wants more than just a goalie. They also want a new striker and winger.

An update has been made on one particular offensive target, and it looks like the Hoops are still in the running.

Celtic will compete fiercely for the £25 million forward.

This season, there have been rumors that Celtic may try to recruit Panathinaikos center-forward Fotis Ioannidis,

but the Hoops appeared to be going to lose to West Ham handily.

But now, Sport Witness is reporting that Sporting CP is facing stiff competition from Celtic in the hunt to sign

Ioannidis, citing reports from Portugal. Girona, Lazio, Sevilla, Lille, and recently promoted Premier League team

Ipswich Town are among the other teams interested in the 24-year-old in addition to the Hoops.
