West Ham target free transfer swoop for Luton Town man

After one incredible season in the Premier League, Luton Town is returning to the Championship.

Even though the Hatters were demoted right away and returned to the EFL, their time there had some incredible

moments, and they should be well-prepared to battle for a quick return to the highest division of football.

But with seasoned favorites like Dan Potts and Luke Berry moving away, departures are unavoidable.

Tim Krul‘s future hasn’t received much attention, though, and he’s currently attracting interest from other places.

Journalist Alan Nixon claims in a Patreon post that West Ham is considering a move for the Luton Town goalkeeper

“at the end” of his contract.

In the goalkeeping department, he is thought to be a solid backup option to Sheffield United’s Wes Foderingham.

The 36-year-old Krul made six appearances in cup events last season as Thomas Kaminski‘s backup.

Krul’s function inside the Hatters

Even though Krul is Kaminski’s backup goalkeeper at Luton Town, he is still a valuable player and will likely remain

such in the future.

However, it appears that his contract expires at the end of this month, which may present him with options to go on.

You have to think that the former Netherlands international might be persuaded to return to the Premier League if a team like West Ham makes a move. He has devoted a large portion of his career at this level, therefore they’ll probably give a better deal than the Hatters.

It remains to be seen, though, whether a move solidifies their interest. According to Nixon’s report,

Foderingham has been considered, but since a decision regarding his future has not yet been made, Krul is a strong substitute.

When the 2024–2025 season rolls around, Luton Town will be expected to strive for promotion again,

as is often the case with teams demoted from the Premier League.
