FLW’s Portsmouth fan pundit identifies the club’s most valuable assets ahead of the summer transfer season.

Pompey won League One in the process, and John Mousinho received a lot of praise for his involvement in the club’s return to the second flight.

The south coast club has not competed at this level of English football since 2012,

therefore they will be seeking to construct a team that can stay in the division for the long term.

Portsmouth, on the other hand, may find themselves looking to keep important

players this summer if some of their promotion heroes attract interest.

Mousinho will be anxious to avoid any major exits from Fratton Park, but the club may face a lengthy transfer process.

Portsmouth fan pundit pinpoints three key transfer assets

Miltos Ionnidis, a FLW Portsmouth fan pundit, believes that Colby Bishop, Paddy Lane, and Regan Poole might all command seven-figure transfer fees.

He believes Bishop is the most likely of the three Pompey stars to earn

the greatest possible fee if any significant sales take place during this transfer window.

“It’s a tricky one, because even now, there are a few players who could be considered high value assets,

” Ioannidis told Football League World.

“You actually have to differentiate and say, ‘Oh, this player would absolutely cost the highest transfer fee of them all’.

“But if I had to go with the roughest measure in the back of my head, I would definitely have gone for someone.

“I believe he would seek a transfer fee of more than £1 million, possibly over £2 million, or even £2.5 million.

“I believe that’s a fair estimate.

“I believe Paddy Lane is high on the list, and he is another player who would command a substantial transfer cost if any team wants to sign him.

“And then there are players like Regan Poole, who, while he has just recently completed his ACL, is one of Portsmouth’s most valuable assets right now,

and I’m confident this will become clearer next season.

“I think them three would certainly demand a pretty significant transfer fee.”

Portsmouth’s Championship goal

Portsmouth will be trying to stave off any interest in important players this summer and keep talents like Bishop and Lane.

Mousinho’s goal will be to keep the team competitive and avoid a relegation battle next season.

The club will be looking to secure their place in the Championship, with the goal of contending for promotion to the top level in the future.

This summer will be a test of their immediate ambition, and keeping big names will be just as essential as any new additions at Fratton Park.

Portsmouth must hold onto high-value assets

If any bids for important Portsmouth players come in this summer, the club should do everything it can to keep them.

Promotion to the Championship should entice players to stay, but you never know until the window closes.

Bishop and Lane were both key to their League One title victory,

with Bishop finishing second in the division’s top scorers list with 21 goals (all numbers from Fbref).

If Pompey want to be competitive in the Championship next year, maintaining those two will be critical.
