Nottingham Forest will have to offload one of their star players during the summer transfer window.

The Reds are aiming to avoid another points deduction during 2024/25 after losing four from their total last season.

Now, Forest have to tighten the purse strings a little bit and a sale is required to ensure they remain compliant with the regulations.

A few players are in the spotlight when it comes to a possible City Ground departure.

Morgan Gibbs-White claimed 10 assists last season, whilst Taiwo Awoniyi has attracted interest from West Ham.

Another player who is definitely going to be courted is Brazilian defender Murillo and several clubs are keen on him.

With the end of the season approaching, another report on the 21-year-old has surfaced, and Forest appears to be in for a tough battle.

Atletico Madrid want Nottingham Forest star Murillo

The clubs continue to form an orderly queue around the City Ground in an attempt to sign Murillo.

According to Football Espana, Atletico Madrid is the latest club to be studying Forest defender Murillo.

The Reds player will not come cheap to any team, with Forest valuing their defense at £70 million.

Murillo joined Forest in the summer of 2023 from Corinthians, for a fee of slightly more than £10 million.

Murillo made his Premier League debut against Brentford in October and was a constant presence as Forest avoided relegation.

Forest are under pressure to sell one of their players to raise around £20 million this summer and Murillo does feel like the most likely to depart.

Forest must find Murillo replacement ahead of next season

The recruitment team at Forest shouldn’t be underestimated.

They were the ones who plucked Murillo out when nobody had heard of him and they must now scour the market for another gem.

It does feel like a case of when rather than if in terms of Murillo leaving and he does look destined for the top.

No centre-back completed more dribbles in the Premier League than the Forest man last season (Who Scored) and he fits the modern-day mantra for a central defender.

Whether Atletico Madrid will stump up the cash remains to be seen.
