Ashley Young contract decision made at Everton with new offer tabled

Speaking on talkSPORT’s Breakfast Show (17 June), the seasoned player disclosed that the final details are all that

need to be sorted out before he can “sign that contract.” Young, who joined Sean Dyche‘s team on a free transfer last

season and played 34 times, will now prolong his stay for an additional 12 months, adding to the team’s strength

after fellow defender Seamus Coleman did the same earlier this month. “We’re close to everything being resolved,”

he stated. “There have been talks over the summer. It’s just about getting the fine details sorted now and I’ll sign that

contract.”

Sean Dyche desires Everton experience.

Throughout his career, one of the most important aspects of a Dyche team has been his appreciation of experience,

which Young offers in spades.

Young, who previously excelled at Watford and Aston Villa before winning the Premier League with Manchester

United, has evolved into a versatile full-back who can play on either side and, in an emergency, provide a midfield

alternative.

Dyche is always big on having a key weapon, and his delivery from set pieces presents a threat for another area,

so it makes sense that he was offered a new contract.

Young also stepped up as a leader on and off the field when Coleman missed a large portion of the previous season

due to injury, and that will be required once more with such a busy summer ahead of us and the hopes that a

relegation battle is not in the cards.

The news is fantastic for the Toffees, and they will be pleased that he will be staying for an additional year.
