Sunderland in deep talks to Retain former high rated ‘Star’ who made 95 appearances for the Club
At the end of this month, Sunderland’s players will return for preseason training; however,
not every player will be ready right once.
Due to injuries, a number of Black Cats players were sidelined at the end of the 2023–2024 season.
Other players may be granted more time off as they were away on international duty.
These are the Sunderland players that have been unavailable recently, along with those
who have been abroad on international duty, along with their anticipated return date.
Since November, Cirkin hasn’t played for the seniors due to a hamstring injury that necessitated surgery.
After a protracted layoff, the full-back resumed training in the last weeks of the 2023–2024 season,
but he wasn’t put at danger. After a discouraging 12 months, the 22-year-old is anticipated to be ready for the start of preseason.
Due to a calf problem, Rusyn missed Sunderland’s final nine games of the 2023–24 campaign.
Although the forward resumed part-time training in April, he was cautiously eased back and
did not play for the first team. The 25-year-old, who joined Sunderland on deadline day from
Ukrainian club Zorya Lugansk last summer, should now be able to take advantage of a complete preseason.
3. Dan Neil
Neil missed Sunderland’s final three games of the 2023–24 Championship season due to an ankle injury,
despite making 42 appearances in the competition. Preseason play is anticipated to see the midfielder return.
In February, Embleton had an ankle injury during training after recovering from a thigh injury he had
sustained while on loan at Derby. By the end of the 2023–24 season, the midfielder was getting close to
rejoining the first team, but Sunderland has been concentrating on getting the 25-year-old fit for preseason.
