Celtic are looking to sign a new goalkeeper this summer and have earmarked Dominik Livakovic as a potential option.

The Bhoys were linked with a move for the Croatian goalkeeper last summer but he left former club Dinamo Zagreb for Fenerbahce in a £5.62 million deal.

According to AS Marca in Turkey, Celtic reignited their interest in the Croatian goalkeeper and have launched a £7.6 million bid.

Livakovic made 40 appearances in all competitions last season and is now back on Celtic’s radar. He has won 54 caps for his country and played in Croatia’s 3-0 loss against Spain.

Newly promoted side Ipswich Town are also in the race to sign the 29-year-old goalkeeper.

Celtic new goalkeeper

The Bhoys need to sign a new goalkeeper after Joe Hart retired from his illustrious career. Hart enjoyed a brilliant spell at Celtic Park, and it won’t be easy to replace him.

Celtic have been linked with goalkeepers such as Southampton goalkeeper Alex McCarthy.

Belgium international goalkeeper Koen Casteels has been linked with a move, while in recent weeks, they have been linked with a move for Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka.

Of all the players linked with a move, Livakovic is probably the best, and he can be a great signing for the Hoops. Celtic have money to spend, and they can use it to sign a new goalkeeper.

While Celtic can get Dubravka on the cheap, the Bhoys appear ready to spend big on Livakovic instead. He would be a better signing for Dubravka, who is approaching the fag end of his career.

Celtic have submitted a really good offer for Livakovic, but it remains to be seen whether Fenerbahce will accept the bid.
