Dominik Livakovic is a goalkeeper that Celtic has targeted as a possible addition for their summer goalkeeping class.

The Croatian goalkeeper departed Dinamo Zagreb for Fenerbahce in a £5.62 million transfer, but the Bhoys were rumored to be interested in signing him last summer.

Celtic has reportedly revived their interest in the Croatian goalkeeper and made a £7.6 million proposal, according to AS Marca in Turkey.

 

Livakovic is back on Celtic’s radar after making 40 appearances across all competitions in the previous campaign. He participated in Croatia’s 3-0 loss to Spain and has earned 54 caps for his nation.

Ipswich Town, who was just promoted, is also vying for the 29-year-old goalie.

Celtic need new goalkeeper

Joe Hart’s retirement from the game means the Bhoys will need to bring in a new goalkeeper. Hart had a tremendous run at Celtic Park, and his replacement will not be simple.

Goalkeepers like Alex McCarthy of Southampton have been connected to Celtic.

In recent weeks, they have been linked to a deal for Newcastle United goalkeeper Martin Dubravka, as well as a move for Belgium international goalkeeper Koen Casteels.

Livakovic is arguably the greatest player linked to a move out of all of them, and the Hoops might sign him for a great price. Celtic can sign a new goalkeeper with their available funds.

Celtic can acquire Dubravka for a low cost, but it looks like the Bhoys are willing to spend much on Livakovic. He would be a more suitable addition for Dubravka, who is nearing the end of his playing days.

Celtic has made a very competitive offer for Livakovic; however, it is unclear if Fenerbahce will accept.
