‘A big fee’… Danny Mills thinks Championship club will sell £8m Leeds United target

‘A big fee’… Danny Mills thinks Championship club will sell £8m Leeds United target

Danny Mills believes that when Daniel Farke considers a reunion, Norwich City,

Leeds United’s play-off semifinal opponents and rivals in the Championship, will trade one of their best players.

After Leeds defeated The Canaries in the play-off semifinals,

Norwich will play another season of Championship football the following season.

In the second leg of their 4-0 victory, Leeds put on one of their best performances of the year.

Naturally, Leeds was unable to capitalize on that and ultimately suffered a 1-0 defeat to Southampton at Wembley.

This is true even though the club reportedly still owes £190 million from previous player transfers,

necessitating a sale at Elland Road and a significant profit this summer from player sales in order to balance the books.

Crysencio Summerville, Willy Gnonto, and other players are anticipated to leave,

and Leeds will need to find less expensive replacements in order to turn a profit.

From the second to the third year, parachute payouts drastically decrease.

The need for player sales may arise at Carrow Road in the upcoming weeks and months,

and Leeds is eager to add Josh Sargent, a 16-goal striker who was selected for the USA’s Copa America team this summer.

Former Leeds defender Mills informed FLW that, in his opinion,

Norwich will have to sell, drawing a comparison to Tottenham’s Gareth Bale sale:

He was undoubtedly one of their outstanding performers and one of their best players the previous season.

“You have to give up that if you can occasionally command a high fee.

With Gareth Bale, Spurs succeeded. Sometimes it’s just a solid business plan to sell one and bring in four.

It is your obligation to do so.

The £8 million Norwich player, who was bought by Farke at Carrow Road,

will always be remembered by Leeds supporters as the player who went missing at

Elland Road due to an error made by Ethan Ampadu as Illan Meslier made an incredible stop.

But despite Sargent’s injury-plagued season, he managed 16 goals in that campaign.

Following a challenging Premier League season,

he was undoubtedly questioning his future with the team.

The dynamic has changed, and Norwich will be concerned about holding onto him come summertime.
