According to Phil Hay, Daniel Farke will be fired after just one more opportunity to lead Leeds United out of the Championship.

With Leeds only missing out on automatic promotion to Leicester City and Ipswich Town before entering the play-offs,

Farke came dangerously close to leading Leeds back to the Premier League.

Following Leeds’ heartbreaking loss to Southampton in the Championship play-off final at Wembley,

many will be expecting Farke to give Leeds promotion at the second attempt.

“You’ve seen that other managers can put together credible

and competent seasons in the Championship in the way that Daniel Farke did last season,

which makes you realise that it’s not just [Marcelo] Bielsa that can get Leeds out of the league,

” Hay said in a Friday, June 14, podcast interview with The Square Ball podcast.

Farke may be one of the managers who can accomplish that, but there are other capable ones as well.

I’ll say it again: I don’t see how Farke gets a third opportunity at this [promotion]. This season has to be the one.

Farke will undoubtedly be expected to push for the Championship title,

let alone secure the Whites’ exit from the Championship,

considering how close the team was to achieving promotion this season.

Farke also has more than enough experience to get Leeds promoted,

regardless of the team that plays at the end of the summer, given his prior experience with Norwich City in the league.

In the summer transfer window, Elland Road is probably going to see a lot of movement,

It makes sense that these players wouldn’t want to continue in the Championship after losing out on promotion,

but Farke will still be expected to leave the division.

The Leeds administration has been very clear in supporting the manager,

despite calls from some fans for his dismissal after the play-off final.

However, this may certainly alter if promotion is not won.
