When England takes on Serbia in their Euro 2024 group stage match on Sunday, they will be dreaming of triumph, as Gareth Southgate’s team is eager to improve on their previous performance.

Ian Wright has pledged to dress in traditional German lederhosen should England go to the 2024 European Championship final.

The team captained by Gareth Southgate advanced to the 2021 Euro Final, where they were heartbrokenly defeated by Italy at Wembley on penalties. With England favored to win it all, the Three Lions are currently in Germany getting ready for another try.

Wright would be able to fully integrate into the culture if they made it to the consecutive Euro finals, since lederhosen are associated with Germany, the host country, and the Bavarian region in particular.

That’s where Wright was doing punditry duties for ITV on Friday night during Scotland’s opening tournament match, a devastating 5-1 loss to Germany. The legendary Arsenal player said, “I’ll wear lederhosen if England makes it to the final.”

But first, England must go through Group C. On Sunday in Gelsenkirchen, the Three Lions will begin their campaign against Serbia. After that, they have a game against Denmark in Frankfurt on Thursday and a match against Slovenia in Cologne on Tuesday.

On Sunday, July 14, the final will take place at Berlin’s Olympiastadion, with Portugal, France, and Germany among the other favorites. England would play France in the semi-finals if both sides win their groups and make it to the final four.

According to Wright, the victor of that match will go on to win the renowned Henri Delaunay Cup.

Prior to the competition, the former England international told ITV, “So many teams have match-winners.”

“Germany has an indisputable home advantage and is long overdue for a successful tournament run. But France and England have to be my favorites.
