The summer transfer window is now open, but Sunderland’s ongoing search for a new manager will undoubtedly impact the club’s business.
The club has been without a manager for nearly four months and has seen linked names fall out of contention,
including Liam Rosenior, who has joined Will Still in pursuing other opportunities, if not landing an entirely new job.
Sunderland fans have expressed frustration with Kristj.
However, the management saga, as well as the club’s failure to buy a much-needed striker in recent transfer windows,
have put Speakman in the spotlight.
Despite the lack of a manager in place, it appears that Speakman has added a potential striker signing to his wishlist.
According to journalist Darren Witcoop, Notts County striker Macaulay Langstaff has ‘admirers’
in the Championship after scoring 29 goals in all competitions for the club last season.
Witcoop mentions Swansea City as one of the teams ‘monitoring developments’ this summer, along with Sunderland.

Langstaff, 27, has previously been linked with Sunderland.
Speakman is currently under pressure at Sunderland, and if this next management appointment fails, his position will undoubtedly be jeopardised.
Perhaps the only way Speakman can repair his reputation among Sunderland
fans is to make strong signings during the summer transfer window.
something the first team sorely needs.
Langstaff’s goal total is outstanding. However, he has never played in the Championship,
so there will be serious doubts about his ability to make the jump this season.
With other clubs in the race, it may be an expensive risk for Sunderland.
