Rangers may have to wait until the conclusion of preseason to finalize a contract with Abdallah Sima, who they want to sign on a permanent basis.

The 22-year-old’s future is still uncertain while Brighton continues to choose their next manager, senior writer Pete O’Rourke said in a recent episode of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast.

According to sources, before any decisions are taken regarding outgoing moves, the new manager will have time to evaluate his team during the preseason.

Sima, who spent three years out on loan at Slavia Prague before joining Brighton for £7 million in 2021, is yet to play for the South Coast team.

The Senegalese winger played at Ibrox last season, where he immediately became a fan favorite with 16 goals in 39 games.

But during the Africa Cup of Nations, he sustained a catastrophic injury that kept him out of action for 13 games. Then, in April, he sustained another setback that ended his season.

Following the hits, supporters have questioned his availability and injury history, according to Football Insider, and they’ve suggested the team should reconsider signing him to a long-term contract.

In April, Football Insider reported that Sima, whose contract at Brighton is about to expire, would be available this summer for as little as £6 million.

After Celtic won the Scottish Cup and the SPFL title, Clement is trying to bolster his team, and Sima’s comeback is still a possibility despite the setbacks.

In other news, Rangers stated that they would be “happy” to take Ianis Hagi’s £2 million offer.
