Southampton ready to move to sign Joe Rodon as Leeds United transfer stance emerges

Southampton is getting ready to make a bid for the defender, thus Leeds United’s ambitions of acquiring Joe Rodon

permanently this summer have run into a roadblock, according to TEAMtalk.

Saints were reportedly among the suitors for Tottenham player Rodon, who maintained 17 clean sheets in 43

Championship matches in 2023–24, according to a report by James Marshment on June 13.

Leeds needs to sell before they can spend this summer, although it is thought that the Welsh international would be

amenable to a permanent return to Elland Road.

According to the source, Rodon’s transfer fee from Spurs is expected to be between £12 and £15.5 million.

Leeds United is hoping to sign Rodon.

Under Daniel Farke, Rodon may have had the best season of his career thus far. If Leeds had defeated Saints in the

play-off final, Rodon would have been a major factor in the team’s elevation.

The Whites would not have as much power in the Premier League as Southampton has, but it is possible that the

player might still choose return to Elland Road. Both teams are pursuing similar players, with both apparently vying

for Callum O’Hare of Coventry City.

Since joining Spurs from his hometown club Swansea City in 2020, Rodon has only played in 15 top-flight games,

and at 26, he is aware that his next contract needs to be ideal.

The defender will have an eye toward the future, especially the very real possibility that by this time next year,

Leeds and Southampton might have switched places.

This month, Leeds’ top objective is to close the books by recovering money from player sales.

Only then can they invest fees up to £15 million.
