Done deal: Alvaro Morata from Atletico Madrid has joined AS Roma.

Alvaro Morata has issued a warning to Serie A clubs, saying that he “cannot remain at Atletico Madrid if I won’t be playing,” and has invited them to approach him.

The striker is now getting ready to play for Spain in the same group as Albania, Croatia, and Italy at EURO 2024.

“I’ll be clear; the directors know what I’m talking about and I see what’s in the media,” Morata said to El Larguero.

“I haven’t talked to anyone, but it seems like I’m not the team’s top priority when I see that Atleti wants to sign eight strikers.”

“Since I won’t be playing, I cannot stay at Atletico Madrid as I am 31 years old and will turn 32 in October.”

Morata would prefer to go back to Serie A.

Due to the fact that Milan and Roma are both in need of center forwards, he has already been linked to a third consecutive spell at Juventus.

His ideal course of action would be to go back to Italy, in part due to his prior success in Serie A and in part because his wife Alice is Italian.

Morata’s contract has a €15 million release clause, and he may have to take a significantly less wage of roughly €4-5 million per season to play frequently.

Calciomercato.com estimates that to be about half of what he currently makes in Madrid.
