Complicated : Southampton reportedly in talks with Sunderland for Managerial Discussions

Prior to relocating to Bournemouth for Premier League football last summer,

Aarons was said to be on the verge of a move to St Mary’s.

Saints and Leeds United reached a financial agreement with Norwich City, but Cherries made a

last-ditch attempt to get the former England under-21 international for a whopping £12 million.

After returning to the Premier League, Saints reportedly want to sign Aarons once more,

according to a recent report by BBC Sport.

Following their 1-0 victory over Leeds at Wembley to win the Championship playoffs last month,

manager Russell Martin is looking to add the 24-year-old to his roster.

They also say that several other elite teams are keeping tabs on Aarons.

He played in the academy under Martin while he was the Carrow Road captain and made over 200 appearances for Norwich,

helping the Canaries win two Championship titles.

There are just 12 months left on Saint Mary’s contract for Saints star Kyle Walker-Peters,

so his future there is still up in the air.

During last month’s promotion party, Saints players began chanting “one more year” at the defense

and Martin has hinted that he might not be able to retain his entire squad.

Ryan Fraser, who enjoyed his season-long loan from Newcastle United,

is also close to finalizing a permanent return to Saints.

The team also declared that they are still in contact with striker Che Adams, who is not under contract.

Several clubs are interested in signing the Scotland international.
