Last February, the Seagulls signed the 19-year-old Ghana international from Danish club FC Nordsjaelland for an

initial £17 million. Osman, a product of Ghana’s Right to Dream Academy, can play on the left wing, right wing, and

in the middle. He signed a deal with Brighton until June 2029. The academy has been successful in recent years,

with Brighton’s Ivory Coast international Simon Adingra graduating before joining Albion for about £6 million from

FC Nordsjaelland.

The arrival of Osman is regarded as a huge coup for the Seagulls, given Premier League rivals West Ham attempted to sign him the previous January.

Lamptey and Osman are now with the Ghana national squad and will join Brighton for pre-season this summer,

including a trip to Japan. Lamptey, who played in Ghana’s recent World Cup qualifying victories over Mali and

Central Africa, was pleased with Osman.

“He’s a good guy, and he’ll do well,” the former Chelsea player told 3 Sport. “I’ll assist him so he can simply enjoy his

football; that’s what it’s about. “You know he’s a great player. He’s young, but very good. He’s hardworking, and I’m

quite thrilled to welcome him.”

Brighton’s technical director David Weir remarked at the time of the signing: “We’re excited to work with Ibrahim.”

“Once the season is over and he’s had the opportunity to rest during the summer, we will bring him into our

environment where he will get the time and support he needs to settle here in England.”
