Atletico Madrid rejects West ham’s €29m bid for Omorodion

El Desmarque reported on June 4th that West Ham United had agreed to an agreement with Atlético Madrid and that the Premier League team had put in an offer for Samu Omorodion.

Journalist Marcos Durán reported a day later that although West Ham had made a bid of €29 million plus €10 million in bonuses, they had not reached an agreement with the La Liga team.

According to reports in the Italian media, AS Roma has made a €40 million bid to hire him. El Desmarque subsequently relays this information in another article and offers their own analysis on the matter.

They note that Napoli is in the running to sign the striker, and that West Ham has placed an offer for him in recent weeks. Roma has made an appearance, but Atlético won’t allow him to go for €40 million.

The La Liga team is allegedly “dragging their feet” in spite of the necessity to raise money after Roma made a bid for the 20-year-old.

After spending a season on loan at Deportivo Alavés, where he finished with nine goals and an assist from 35 league appearances, Los Rojiblancos feel they can make more money from Omorodion’s transfer. The Madrid team has therefore chosen to hold off on making any better proposals.

It should be noted that Gianluca di Marzio just mentioned that Roma had contacted the player about a potential signing; he made no mention of them submitting an offer.

According to Thursday’s Gazzetta dello Sport, Roma is scrounging around for sales to generate cash, so it seems improbable that they could merely plunk down €40 million.

Since returning from a cruciate knee injury, Tammy Abraham hasn’t played for ninety minutes, so they’d probably have to trade him first.

Maybe this is a ploy to make West Ham and other teams pay more.
