AS Roma is aiming to obtain funds to pursue targets in the summer market, which includes selling some of its players.

Tammy Abraham is the most notable of them, with Roma long assuming they could return him to the Premier League whenever they wanted.

According to Thursday’s Gazzetta dello Sport, Aston Villa had ‘practically agreed’ on a €40 million deal ahead of the summer 2023 transfer season, but the player subsequently suffered a cruciate ligament injury.

The Italian daily credits Unai Emery’s team, West Ham, Tottenham, and Everton with interest. However, it is believed that a return to Aston Villa, as well as West Ham, is the most likely option at this time.

That may be wishful thinking on the part of Roma, and there does not appear to be anything significant coming from Aston Villa right now.

After returning from injury, Abraham played slightly over 300 minutes and contributed a goal and an assist. He hasn’t played a full match since his injury, and it would be insane for any of the aforementioned clubs to spend much in a permanent move.

The 26-year-old’s contract runs until 2026. Despite Roma’s desire for a major permanent move, and the Italian media’s potential wishful thinking on their behalf, if they want him gone, they will almost certainly have to contemplate a loan.
