A Nottingham Forest fan is banned for racist abuse

It occurred at the City Ground during a game versus Tottenham Hotspur.

A football banning order has been issued to a Nottingham Forest supporter who used derogatory language during a game.

On December 15, 2023, Darren Green shouted racially charged profanities over and over during a game at the City

Ground.

Season ticket holder Green was seen by several persons yelling anti-Semitic remarks at visiting Tottenham Hotspur

supporters from his seat.

Throughout the game, the 50-year-old was also observed to specifically target one opponent player,

spewing racist abuse in their direction.

Green responded angrily and continued using vulgar language in spite of several supporters confronting him about it

and pleading with him to stop.

Many Forest supporters eventually denounced Green’s actions to the stewards, and after a police inquiry,

he was identified and charged.

Despite the overwhelming testimony of witnesses, he entered a guilty plea to two counts of disorderly conduct with

racial aggravation.

At Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Friday, June 7, Green, of Raithby Cose, Bestwood, appeared to be sentenced.

There, he was given a three-year football ban.

He is prohibited by the injunction from traveling overseas during international matches and from attending any

football games played in the nation during this time.

In addition to the prohibition, the court ordered Green to pay £1,759 in fines and costs, plus a £669 victim surcharge.

According to Nottinghamshire Police Sergeant Duncan Brown:

“Green used extremely deplorable language the night of this contest.

“There is absolutely no place for this kind of disgusting hate speech inside or outside of a sports stadium.

“After being told to stop several times by his fellow supporters, Green continued to yell profanities instead of

listening to advice.”

Nottinghamshire Police will never accept hate speech, and we will always look to take action against anyone who are

proven to be spreading hate.
