amAd Idah is eager to rejoin the Scottish Premiership winners Celtic, but a deal is far from simple with Norwich City holding out for £8 million and their new head coach eager to see the striker in pre-season. The “Immense” Rodgers favorite wants to move to Celtic, but a £5 million bid won’t be enough.

HITC is aware that the Republic of Ireland international wants to stay at Parkhead for the upcoming season and beyond. He was quite popular during his loan stint north of the border during the second part of the previous campaign.

After learning that it is doubtful that Adam Idah will sign another short-term contract with a buyout provision, Celtic has begun negotiations with  Brendan Rodgers city to find out what would be needed to convert Idah’s temporary deal into a permanent one.

The team led byis hopeful that a £5 million bid will be sufficient. There is a significant difference between the amount Celtic wants to pay and the amount Norwich may have to pay—nearly £8 million.

Celtic may need £8m for Norwich City’s Adam Idah

Idah would become The Hoops’ second-most expensive acquisition in history with an £8 million contract, behind only Odsonne Edouard. Nevertheless, Celtic can still smash their summer transfer record with the £15 million-rated Coaimhin Kelleher, the goalkeeper for Liverpool and their top choice to succeed Joe Hart.

Johannes Hoff Thorup presents another challenge for Celtic as they pursue Idah. After Norwich’s play-off semifinal thrashing at Leeds United, David Wagner was sacked as head coach, and the former Nordsjaelland manager is eager to examine Idah more closely over the summer.

The 23-year-old, who was born in Cork, excelled greatly at Celtic. Idah scored nine goals in 19 games across all competitions, including a few “big” goals. Of course, his 90th-minute winner against Rangers, Old Firm rivals, in the Scottish Cup final springs to mind. However, Idah also contributed to Hibernian and Motherwell’s late victories against draws.

Had it not been for his strategically placed contributions, the campaign that resulted in a domestic double would have easily ended in trophylessness.

Brendan Rodgers a huge fan of Ireland striker

“I tell the board how I feel about Adam. After Idah reacted to Jack Butland’s error at Hampden Park, Rodgers told The Independent, “That was the reason for bringing him in.” “Especially in the past few months, he has been a true catalyst for us.

“He possesses all the qualities. He is strong, quick, and dynamic. And I believed he would score goals with superior positioning. He has demonstrated that he is a goal scorer since joining. He receives several kinds of objectives.

He moves really well in the box and can handle stressful situations. He sniffed in and out of the box like a true number nine (in the cup fina).

He’s been tremendously helpful to us, and it’s obvious that I want to work with him. I’ve noticed growth in him, and player improvement is the main goal of the game. I simply feel that Adam has such a lofty potential.”

If Idah comes back, he could open the door for Oh Hyeon-Gyu to go. The hardly sighted South Korean has ties to Belgian clubs.

Meanwhile, Kelleher is not the only focus of Celtic’s goalkeeper pursuit.

One of those that was supposedly being considered by the Premiership champions, Patrick Pentz, took himself out of the running when he signed a contract with Danish powerhouse Brondby.

Meanwhile, Michael Zetterer has extended his contract at Werder Bremen and, at the very least, is drawing praise from Manchester City. It will also take some persuasion for Ugurcan Cakir to abandon his beloved Trabzonspor.
