Rafael Nadal has been selected for the Spanish squad to compete in the Olympics in Paris. He will play doubles with French Open champion Carlos Alcaraz.

Nadal, who has struggled with injuries over the last two years, stated that the Games were his top priority and that he could forgo Wimbledon in order to prepare.

Nadal stated, “My main goal now is to play in the Olympics,” following his defeat on May 27 in the opening round of the French Open.

“That will be present here. Thus, I must properly prepare myself in order to try to arrive here in good health and condition, and then we shall see.”

At the Games, Nadal and Alcaraz will compete in singles and doubles matches. The tennis match will take place at Roland Garros, the home of 14-time Grand Slam winner Rafael Nadal and the latest French Open winner, Alberto Alcaraz, who triumphed on Sunday.

While Nadal won gold in doubles with Marc Lopez in 2016 and gold in singles at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, Alcaraz will be competing in his first Olympic Games.

Additionally, Spain chose Sara Sorribes Tormo and Cristina Bucsa for the women’s tournament and Pablo Carreno Busta, Alejandro Davidovich, and Marcel Granollers (doubles) for the men.
