The England international’s pursuit by the north Londoners was spearheaded by Spurs manager

Ange Postecoglou.
While Chelsea will evaluate bids in the summer, Sky Sports writer Michael Bridge has declined to completely rule out the chance that Tottenham may rekindle their interest in Gallagher.

Conor Gallagher of Chelsea is a player that Tottenham Hotspur manager Ange Postecoglou is a “big

fan” of, and Sky Sports writer Michael Bridge has explained to GIVEMESPORT why Hotspur Way

may consider making a bid if their chase is rekindled during the summer transfer window.

Prior to the winter transfer window’s deadline of February 1st, Spurs were quite active. Timo Werner completed his first loan move from Bundesliga team RB Leipzig, which included a £15 million

buyout option. Meanwhile, Radu Dragusin strengthened the north London team’s options at the

centre of their defence by completing a £26.7 million move from Genoa.

Despite his current employers’ willingness to approve his mid-season departure in order to allay concerns about him breaking Premier League profit and sustainability regulations, Gallagher

remained at Stamford Bridge because Tottenham refused to accede to Chelsea’s demands for the

player in the final hours of the winter transfer window, as reported by talkSPORT.

The central midfielder, who has worn the captain’s armband multiple times this season, reportedly

made it clear that he was determined to compete for a spot in former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino’s plans despite the fact that the Blues placed him on the market in an effort to balance

the books by making a pure profit by offloading an academy graduate.

Spurs baulked at meeting Gallagher price tag ahead of winter deadline

Postecoglou is said to have been the driving factor behind Tottenham’s early 2024 pursuit of

Gallagher, but had they chosen to pay his asking price, he would have become the second-most expensive signing in the club’s history.

Spurs debated whether to challenge their London rivals’ determination with a last-minute approach before the winter window closed, but it soon became apparent that the England international’s desperation to stay at his childhood club would make it challenging to complete a deal.

Transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano recently stated to GIVEMESPORT that Tottenham, had they

chosen to focus elsewhere, had a “very good chance” of acquiring Gallagher if they went to the negotiation table with a hefty offer before the deadline earlier this month.

The 24-year-old is expected to reach the last 12 months of his £50,000-per-week deal before the

2024–25 season begins, so he might be available for a reduced price in the summer. There have

been no indications that new terms are imminent.
