United States, Dallas (AFP) — Despite a fresh injury scare that has raised questions about his fitness, Kristaps Porzingis stated on Tuesday that he is determined to play for Boston against Dallas in game three of the NBA Finals.

The Latvian power forward is “day-to-day” going into game three in Dallas on Wednesday after the Celtics revealed on Tuesday that he had a “rare” injury to his left leg in game two on Sunday.

Following a month-long injury layoff, the 28-year-old has helped the Celtics take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-seven series.

It’s a somewhat arbitrary circumstance. I felt something, and now I have to deal with it,” Porzingis said.

“It’s day-to-day, and I’ll check in with myself tomorrow.” Naturally, I’m going to exert every effort to be present tomorrow. So let’s wait and see.

“Unless I’m told not to or I’m not allowed to play, nothing will stop me.”

Meanwhile, Boston’s medical team will have the final call on whether or not Porzingis plays, according to Celtics Coach Joe Mazzulla, who labeled Porzingis’s injury as significant.

Mazzulla remarked, “He’s doing everything he can to be ready for the game tomorrow.” It’s a significant wound. Ultimately, neither our team nor the medical staff will place him in any difficult circumstances.

“Given the significance of him, we have decided to play without him.

“He’s going to give it his all to play. But we’re going to leave it up to our medical team. That is all there is to it.
