Celtic could make move to sign ‘really good’ Euro 2024 striker on bargain deal in January

You would have to assume that the Celtic scouting department will be closely monitoring the competition for any

possible players who may emerge, given that Euro 2024 begins on Friday night.

Following the revelation of Salernitana defender Flavius Daniliuc and Newcastle United’s Martin Dubravka

yesterday, Brendan Rodgers has already been associated with two players who are participating in the competition.

Thus, it’s evident that Celtic are already being associated with players that are traveling to Germany this week, even

before the major competition officially begins.

And as news of an international striker that Celtic is reportedly interested in surfaced last night,

it appears that those connections will continue.

When Tommy Conway will be acquired by Celtic

Tommy Conway is poised to depart Bristol City after turning down a new contract at the Ashton Gate club,

as we discussed yesterday.

And now, the Daily Record claims that Celtic will move forward in January—but only if he chooses to extend his

contract.

Conway’s contract expires at the conclusion of the following season, and because of cross-border transfer

regulations, Brendan Rodgers may be able to sign him for as little as £300,000 in compensation.

Conway has been called “very good” by current manager Liam Manning.

Back in April, Conway was predicted to sign with Celtic when Steve Evans, the manager of Rotherham, suggested

that the “gifted” striker from Bristol City would be interested in joining the team.

And now, Conway is in the spotlight after his season of twelve goals and Lyndon Dykes’ injury forced him into a late

entry into Steve Clarke’s Euro 2024 team.

And that’s where Celtic has an issue. Should the 21-year-old impress in the tournament and the club decide to wait

until January to make a transfer, there will be plenty of suitors ready to snatch him away from the Championship

club and ruin Celtic’s prospects of landing a great deal.
