After scoring an incredible goal in Portugal’s victory over the Republic of Ireland, former Manchester United player Cristian Ronaldo appears to be more than prepared for Euro 2024.

Ronaldo and his teammates played their final prep game on Tuesday, with the summer event starting on Friday but Portugal’s first match not happening for another seven days.

In the friendly against the Republic of Ireland, the 39-year-old, who last month shattered the Saudi Pro League scoring record for a single season, got off to a quick start and quickly dispelled any doubts about his talent.

Ronaldo doubled Roberto Martinez’s team’s advantage in the 50th minute from the edge of the box, putting them ahead by one goal already.

The former United attacker easily intercepted a lofted pass from Ruben Neves, then used his signature step-over to create a yard of space before using his weaker left foot to fire an inch-perfect effort into the far corner.

After being set up by Diogo Jota, Ronaldo scored his second goal of the match ten minutes later with a calm finish from close range.

With two goals, Ronaldo has already scored 130 goals for his country, and a brace would be the ideal preparation for the next European championships.

Some have criticized Ronaldo for migrating to the Middle East while other great football players have stayed in Europe since he decided to join Al-Nassr eighteen months ago.

Patrice Evra recently issued a forceful defense of Ronaldo, presumably fed up with people doubting his United colleague. The Portugal player hasn’t wasted any time in demonstrating that the Frenchman is correct.

He stated, “Age is just a number, first of all,” according to the Deccan Herald. “I believe that age should no longer be brought up. It’s because he has the level if he’s there.

“Cristiano would most certainly prefer to take home the trophy once more. I had a pleasant conversation with Roberto Martinez, who adored the team. Portugal has a large number of players, therefore you can see they trust Ronaldo.

He’s only focusing on Ronaldo’s form and believes that he will score, without questioning his age or anything else. Thus, it has more benefits than drawbacks.

I find it really puzzling that anyone would doubt his age or anything. In 52 games [47 actually], I believe he scored 52 goals [49 actually] in the Saudi League.
