Following the Black Cats’ failure to sign long-term target Will Still, who has taken over at RC Lens, Sunderland will hold additional negotiations with Liam Rosenior.
After leading Hull City to a respectable seventh place finish in the previous season, former Hull City manager Rosenior will provide Championship experience to the team.

However, following a drawn-out search, supporters who were hoping for someone unknown, like Still, to enter the race might have mixed feelings about Rosenior.

Owner Kyril Louis-Dreyfus of Sunderland and sports director Kristjaan Speakman

will have a busy summer ahead of them, with additions perhaps necessary to convince supporters that the team is serious about contending for the Premier League.

Additionally, Rosenior’s arrival may be helpful on that front since he was able to draw in young players from Hull City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, and other teams.

Tom Cannon, a youthful striker for Leicester City, is another attacker Rosenior adores and who was previously under consideration by Sunderland.
