Portsmouth are preparing for life in the Championship after their promotion from League One.

It was an excellent season for Pompey, and they secured their return to the Championship after a 12-year absence as they were crowned League One champions.

As notable loanees like Alex Robertson and Abu Kamara returned to their parent clubs, manager John Mousinho’s summer rebuild has already begun with the departure of players like Matt Macey, Ryan Schofield, Joe Rafferty, Sean Raggett, Lee Evans, and Josh Martin at the end of their contracts.

These players might not be the only ones departing this summer; Mousinho might try to let go of some that aren’t part of his ambitions for the Championship, which would free up money for him to put back into the team.

Portsmouth fan pundit on potential summer departures

Although he does not want any of the promotion-winning team to leave, FLW’s Portsmouth fan analyst Miltos Ioannidis thinks the team may make money this summer on midfielder Tom Lowery and wingers Anthony Scully and Gavin Whyte.

After moving from Crewe Alexandra to Pompey in the summer of 2022, Lowery has been a member of the team for the past two years. However, due to injuries, he has only made nine appearances this season.

After moving from Wigan Athletic to Fratton Park in the summer, Scully experienced similar injury problems as Lowery did this season, managing just one assist in nine games across all competitions.

Whyte moved from Cardiff City to Portsmouth during the summer, and although he did make 33 appearances in all competitions this.
